The last 510 I had was the race wagon 510, which was a good car, but plagued by my learning process. After 2 motor rebuilds and umpteen hours, I finally sold it to get a more reliable race car. Fortunately, taking what I learned over the two years I had it, I can now build another 510, and this time do it right with a lot less problems.
Since the 510 needed a new lower control arm, I found a donor car and since that donor car didn't have a title and had sat in a field since '86 and was rusty as anything, parts were stripped, and the rest was cut up for scrap. So, here is the photo story: "How to dispatch a rusty 510." Really is sad. Would have been a nice car if someone had taken care of it.

I had already removed all the glass and window regulators, and the door lock mechanisms. Not really much else to save besides the suspension.

Dan does sawzall kung-fu.

At the end of the day, not too much done. Just a front right core support cut out.

The second day was a little better. Ended up taking three separate trips to the metal scrap yard. Not too bad for going at it after work.

That's all, folks!
So, now, I can get busy with having the rear control arms sand blasted and painted to get rid of the rust, and transfer them to the rally 510. After that, I need to put my motor together, which, I'm happy to say, I have all the parts to build a junkyard 20B stroker motor! More to come.
