6-18-11.

Wow, exactly a year and a month since updating.  Really been slacking, but there have been a lot of things going on in my life that were more important than updating the website.  Plus, if you're a fellow ratsuner, you already know what's been going on!  For those who haven't been on the forum, the newest news is I have finally finished my KAZ24 project on the D21.  The long and short is after being bought with one dead motor, replacing with another motor with oiling issues, I finally built a hybrid motor with a Z24 bottom end and the existing KA head.

In the process we upped the compression to the 9.3ish range, which is much better than the stock 8.6:1.  As of last night, I advanced the cam to the next position, and found the sweet spot for power vs. mileage.  Confirmed today on fill-up, the D21 got 22.26 mpg, which for 3800 pounds or so without me in it, is pretty good.  I'm back to the same kind of mileage I was getting with the 2wd standard cab D21.  That's with 30" tires also.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  Still would like a solid lifter conversion but I probably won't invest any more time in the sohc KA head.  The next future project will definitely involve a dohc KA head.

The Datsun Driving Canby Fun event was this past weekend, it was a blast.  I'll probably make a separate page for those pictures.  I got a new piece of bling for Gracie II just for Canby, courtesy of Todd at Graveyard Graphics here in Spokane.

Why did I start this site?  Creativity is a terrible thing to waste.  This site is a fun thing to play with when I'm stuck inside doing laundry, or when I finish a particularly memorable automobile project.  It's not a stupid day-to-day web log, but something more concrete with information for all, particularly Datsun/Nissan/Mazda enthusiasts who understand real race car drivers turn left AND right, thank you.  As in Autocross, Rallycross, Formula One, Baja, Road Racing, and Rally Racing.

Aside from the new job, I double as an import mechanic on weekends.  Nissan/Datsun, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, NO VOLKSWAGENS.  If you're in the Spokane/CDA area, you're more than welcome to drop me a line.  I occasionally give out advice, but a lot of problems have to be examined in person.  Enjoy the rest of the site.
