Rallycross seems to always get the shaft be it too much snow or too little. This year, we had our first event which was great but very very cold. It was 4 degrees without wind chill when I got up to Deer Park. Balancing dual carbs in that weather is not very fun. Regardless, the event went well, though we could have used some more people.
Sadly, the rest of the season is postponed until we have a decent melt as Deer Park had around 5 feet of snow and about the only option we have now is renting snowmobiles and plow trucks. And even then there are gigantic berms to contend with, which tend to harden and cause decent damage to vehicles. So we'll wait, and maybe the recent weather will get enough snow off to make it manageable for a few more events this season.
I learned a lot about the new handling and power characteristics of the 510 with obscene power and crappier tires as compared to last year with the leaky original L16 and nice new skinny snows. (Conversely, that's really great for rallycross as it's really easy to control.) Managed second, but lost to Jeff in a Colorado. Granted better tires, but he's also a very good driver. I got my times down after many many fun runs so I'll be more set next time. Cody, I owe you one for showing me how!
